As the current Director of Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Oncology at Tarzana Medical Center and a Chief of Staff at Northridge Medical Center, Dr. Atiya has gained a reputation for thorough patient care and in-depth knowledge of complex medical procedures. He leads a team of skilled surgeons and medical professionals in our Los Angeles office and is dedicated to helping patients with his skill and knowledge in the field of cardiovascular and thoracic medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery and licensed to practice medicine in the State of California, Dr. Atiya is recognized by the National Board of Medical Examiners and has years of experience to help patients.

  • Undergraduate: University California at Riverside with a B.S. in Psychobiology, 1984-1988
  • Graduate: Albany Medical College in Albany, New York with an M.D., 1988-1992
  • Residency in General Surgery at the UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, 1992-1998
  • Residency: Administrative Chief Resident in General Surgery, UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, 1998-1999
  • Fellowship: Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas, 1999-2000

As a guest lecturer at multiple medical events throughout California, as well as the author of numerous presentations, publications, and abstracts, Dr. Atiya keeps up-to-date on current procedures, including robotic thoracic surgery, minimally invasive mitral and aortic valve surgery, and endovascular aneurysm repairs. He leads a group of surgeons who strive to provide the best care for you and your loved ones.
